Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli 13th July 2010 Written Update
Part 1:
The episode begins with Jagu asking Abha, what is the big deal if my daughter goes to her friend’s wedding reception? I have no problem with it. Abha says, papa Kanika did not go to a marriage reception, she went to such a place where girls from good families do not go. I was only trying to save the honour of the family. Kanika nervously looks at Shaili and Shaili interupts Abha and says, whose honour? Who are you to talk about honour? Shaili challenges Jagu to believe Kanika or Abha. Abha speaks up and says, bhabi I don’t care if none of you believe me, but you and I both know what type of clothes Kanika is wearing under that saree! I don’t think Kanika would like to discuss that with papa! So bhabi I think it would be best if you kept quiet! (Go Abha! Woo hoo! ) Karan and Dadi look very concerned and Kanika is clearly scared. She finally just apologizes to Jagu and admits that she went for a party and not a wedding reception. But she adds, what right did this Abha have to slap me! Abha raises her voice at Kanika and says, I will tell you with what right I gave you a slap! The right that makes me the DIL of this house! The right which I earned when Papa asked me to break all ties with my parents and family and concern myself only with your family! Abha is really on a roll! She adds that the earned the rights to be the DIL and do all DIL’s duties the day she took seven steps with Karan at their wedding and swore to protect his family from all harm and dishonour. She says, I swear to you all that I will never let this family get even a shadow of disrespect! Jagu is stunned but is silent and listens to Abha. Dadi and Karan look pleased but keep serious faces. Shaili and Kanika look defeated. Abha takes a dig at Shaili and says, Kanika is of marriageable age and maybe some other bhabi can stand by and watch her shame the family (here she looks at Shaili), but I cannot. She then proceeds to tell Jagu what went on at the rave party (we see it in black and white flashback). Jagu gives Shaili an angry look and Abha says, sorry Papa, but you have given Kanika too much freedom and she is taking advantage of it. Kanika is furious and shooting daggars at Abha with her eyes. Abha apologizes for being outspoken but requests Jagu to tell Kanika that in the future if she wants to go out she should seek permission from her elders. Kanika is so mad you can practically see the smoke coming out of her ears! Jagu gives Dadi a quick glance and Dadi nods her head in approval. Jagu then turns to Kanika, lifts her chin up with his finger, then wags his finger at her and sternly says, from now on you will not go anywhere without my permission, do you understand? Kanika tries to argue with Jagu but he shouts, No! Not a word! Have I made myself clear Kanika? Abha looks at Jagu with a mixture of pride and awe (she’s happy that he took her opinion into consideration and scolded Kanika).

Part 2:
Jagu walks away and Shaili gives Abha a nasty look then takes Kanika upstairs. Abha lets out a long breath and tears roll down her cheeks. Dadi comes to her and consoles/comforts her and blesses her. Dadi says, Abha today by protecting the honour of this house you have proven to Jagu that only you are the real DIL of this house. Today Jagu has finally understood what feelings you hold in your heart towards his family. Abha exclaims that she is very happy because today for the first time Jagu listened to her and accepted what she said as being right. Karan strokes Abha’s cheek and tells her he’s proud of her. He excuses himself to make a phonecall and cals CP to ask her if Lata has returned home yet. CP worriedly says no, Lata has not returned. Raghav and Prakash have gone to look for her. Karan tells CP he also will go look for Lata and she should call his mobile if Lata comes home or calls CP. Karan quickly starts to leave the house saying he remembered some office work, but Abha stops him and says she doesn’t believe him and knows something is wrong. Karan tries to deny it, but Abha figures out he is lying in order to not worry her. Karan finally spills the beans about Lata claiming to have gone to visit a friend and now being missing. Abha freaks out and tells him Lata has no friends in Ujjain so clearly she has gone somewhere else and what if something happens to her or her unborn baby? Karan tries to calm Abha down and Abha tells him that when she and Lata used to go out they took a particular rickshaw driven by a man named rahman bhai and went by a specific route. Karan departs and promises to locate Lata.
Jagu is sitting alone in his room in the dark remembering all that occured with Kanika and what Abha told him about being stricter with Kanika. He looks over at his wife Pratibha’s photo on the wall. He gets up from his rocking chair and goes over to the photo. He tells Pratibha that he misses her dearly and recalls how when he used to work late she used to scold him and take him by the hand to the dining table to have dinner. He also recalls how when Kanika was a young child she was sick with cold and cough but still wanted to eat ice cream and threw a tantrum. Jagu says he was not able to dissuade her, but Pratibha did so in an instant. Jagu then gets teary eyed and says, Pratibha, after you left I was not able to handle the children and raise them properly the way you wanted me to. I am very sorry.

Part 3:
Jagu continues to talk to Pratibha’s photo and tells her that Abha saved Kanika’s life from being ruined. He calls himself a failure for not raising the children the ideal way, as Pratibha would have done and as she expected him to do. Jagu then says that Abha handled Kanika the way Pratibha might have done and that even though he hates Abha, he sees a lot of Pratibha’s qualities in her. Jagu opens a drawer and pulls out some Abharan wedding photos. He looks at them, then at Pratibha’s portrait on the wall, and wipes tears from his eyes. He pauses for a moment, then suddenly throws the photos into the drawer and slams it shut. Then he goes and sits in his chair and puts his hand to his forehead, lost in thought and confused and conflicted about his feelings for Abha.
Karan comes across a row of auto rickshaws and searches for Rahman bhai, the driver who knows Abha and Lata. He inquires from Rahman bhai whether he took Lata anywhere that evening and Rahman answers in the affirmative and offers to take Karan to the same place. Karan is shocked to learn that Lata did not go to someone’s house, but rather to a desolate, secluded area.
Kanika is in her room sulking and crying. She’s now changed from the gaudy saree into black pants and a green top. Shaili the trouble-maker comes into Kanika’s room and starts poisoning her mind against Abha again. She says, Kanika you must’ve felt so bad when that Abha publicly berated and embarrassed you. I’m shocked at Papa’s behaviour! You are his favourite yet he listened only to Abha, he didn’t even give you a chance to speak! (Wow Shaili, you are the expert when it comes to rubbing salt into someone’s wounds! I think even the name ‘Shaili’ means expert in Hindi, right?) Kanika retorts that since Abha is forbidden from meeting her own father she is jealous and is trying to break Jagu and Kanika’s relationship just like she broke Jagu and Karan’s relationship. Shaili is happy to see Kanika boiling with anger and jumping to wrong conclusions. Kanika vows to get revenge on Abha and Shaili tells her to stop crying and formulate a plan. Both witches cook up a plan in their minds. Kanika says she will wait for the right time to get her revenge while Shaili thinks to herself, you keep waiting Kanika but I cannot wait. I will make sure I get that Abha thrown out of this house right now!
Next we are shown Samarjeet panicking as he sees Lata keeled over and passed out. He says to himself, Oh God, what have I done! He picks up Lata’s limp body and starts dragging it away. Just then Karan approaches in the auto rickshaw, but he does not see Samarjeet. He starts calling Lata’s name and Samrjeet hears and tries to hurry out of there. As he is dragging Lata away, her sandles slip off her feet and get left behind.

Part 4:
Samarjeet manages to hide Lata in a ditch and Karan starts walking in the same direction where Lata’s body was dragged. Suddenly Karan spots Lata’s shawl and sandles and runs to pick them up. Samarjeet runs away from there and Karan fervently shouts Lata’s name as he is really worried for her now. A moment later he spots Lata and runs to her to try to revive her. He is unsuccessful, but looks around for some sign of how she ended up in this isolated area and who is responsible for her condition. He shouts for Rahman bhai to bring the rickshaw around, then carries Lata and puts her in it.
Saniya and Sanskar are in a car and Sanskar asks her if she’d like to eat ice cream. Saniya says, ice cream during monsoon season? Sanskar smiles and replies that eating ice cream during this season is it’s own kind of fun. He asks Saniya what flavour she likes and she she says she loves them all but he can choose for her. Sanskar smiles and says, o.k. then I’ll just get them all! Saniya giggles (poor girl is falling for this snake!). Sanskar comes back to the car with all the ice creams and suddenly his mobile beeps to show an SMS message has been left by the caller. He asks Saniya to check it for him since his hands are full, but she hesitates, afraid that she’d be invading his privacy. He tells her they are not strangers, they are close enough that she has the right to answer his phone or check his messages. When Saniya checks, she sees it’s an SMS from Shaili and Sanskar tries to stop her from reading it, but she begins reading it out loud: Abha toh gayee apne haath se…(Abha is slipping away from our grasp…) Saniya is shocked and bewildered by the message and stares at Sanskar. Episode ends.
